My grandmother somehow manages to cook buckwheat and at the same time chicken as if it were originally a single porridge. She calls it her signature porridge, adds some clever seasonings to the cauldron, and it turns out so delicious that as a child I always ate a full plate. Surely grandma has a secret, lost in the depths of a thick culinary notebook. Now I have my own secret: I cook buckwheat with chicken in a slow cooker. Previously, I fried meat in a frying pan, and cooked porridge in a saucepan next door, constantly stirring and checking whether the processes were going well here and there. Now everything is much simpler.

  • Chicken fillet – 500 gr
  • Buckwheat – 1 measuring cup
  • Water – 2 measuring cups (use less than 3 if you want the buckwheat to boil)
  • Vegetable oil – 15 g
  • Carrots – 1 piece
  • Green. You can take onions, sour cream, any spices, everything that you associate chicken with. Today I associated it with laurel, dill and parsley.

You can do everything quite simply: put all the ingredients in a saucepan and let them gurgle. I still complicated the task a little. I start the chicken first. I wash the fillets under the tap and cut them into medium-sized pieces.


Then I pour oil into the multicooker bowl (I prefer vegetable oil in this case, but butter will do) and immediately drop the fillet pieces into it.

After thinking a little, I cut the carrots into strips (you can also grate them) and add them to the bowl.


I also add a couple of bay leaves. At this point, you could add spices for the chicken, onions, salt and pepper and/or pour sour cream on it (as you like), but I decide to do it next time. Now the main thing for me is the emphasis on the taste of the two main components. I close the lid, select “frying” for half an hour (this is because it is in this mode that my multicooker slowly “rocks.” You can set it for 20 minutes or even less), and go do other things.

While the chicken is roasting, I rinse the buckwheat in cold water.

The chicken will be ready soon. You can add cereal to it.


Pour in water (I prefer boiling water, but this is a matter of taste) and continue to simmer the dish for some more time. I set the mode to “quenching” (it turns itself off, and I’m more than happy with that). Some multicookers are equipped with a special “buckwheat” button. If you have one, use it, of course.


When my porridge was completely ready after 15 minutes, I remembered that this symphony of taste was missing one single note: a finely chopped clove of garlic. I don’t know about you, but for me, porridge with chicken and garlic, and with fresh tomatoes, replaces an excellent full dinner.

It would seem that such an unpretentious recipe can become very interesting and unusual dish. For it we will need the following:

  • chicken – 1 carcass;
  • dried porcini mushrooms – 20 g;
  • onion – 1 pc.;
  • buckwheat – 0.5 cups;
  • orange – 1 pc.;
  • olive oil – 30 g;
  • garlic – 3 cloves;
  • Tabasco sauce – 1 tsp;
  • coriander – 1/3 tsp;
  • cilantro – 1 tbsp;
  • salt, pepper;
  • sunflower oil – 3 tbsp.

We will prepare chicken with buckwheat and porcini mushrooms in a slow cooker as follows:

  1. Pour boiling water over dried porcini mushrooms for half an hour.

  4. Put it in the slow cooker chicken liver, having previously divided it into smaller pieces. Immediately pour out the buckwheat and pour 2 cups of boiling water over it.   5. Mix the cream with honey and pour into a dish. After 10 minutes, turn off the multicooker.

Buckwheat porridge is considered one of the healthiest because it contains many vitamins and microelements. In addition, it is rich in iron. Even those who don’t really like buckwheat will happily eat buckwheat with chicken fillet cooked in a slow cooker.

Prepare the necessary products.

Cut the chicken fillet into pieces approximately 1.5 x 1.5 cm in size.

This recipe definitely won’t reveal anything new, but it’s worth reminding you how to cook everyone’s favorite well-known dish with an incredibly pleasant taste and aroma that is both appetizing and healthy. So, first we cover the countertop with a small piece of baking or parchment paper, pour buckwheat onto it and sort through it, removing any kind of debris, for example, pebbles, husks. After this, we throw the cereal into a colander, rinse until a clear stream of water comes out, and leave it in the sink until use to drain excess moisture.

Step 2: prepare the meat.


Next, thoroughly wash the fresh chicken breast, dry it with paper kitchen towels, place it on a cutting board and, using a sharp kitchen knife, remove film, cartilage, and thin fat deposits. If you prepare the dish under discussion with aromatic gravy, it will turn out especially tender and tasty. The sauce is best made from vegetables and tomato juice(1 tbsp.). Also taken: sweet red pepper, carrots, salt, onion, 1 chicken fillet and 230 g of buckwheat.

Buckwheat porridge with meat can also be made dietary low calorie dish. In this case, it will be prepared from: chicken breast, 1 multi-cup of cereal and 2.5 multi-cups of water, salt, 70 ml of soy sauce.

  1. The washed buckwheat is immediately placed in the container of the device, filled with water and salted.
