Puff pastries with chicken and potatoes

What do we take?

Ready-made dough (450 g), raw or boiled/fried/baked chicken (fillet, thighs - 200 g), onions (1 pc.), spices, salt (to taste), herbs (optional), yolk chicken egg(2 pcs.), vegetable oil (2 tbsp. l).

How we perform

We defrost the base strictly according to the manufacturer's instructions indicated on the package. At this time we are making the filling. Combine yesterday's puree (or cooked today and chilled) with onion fried until transparent (finely chopped). Add yesterday's chicken, disassembled into fibers (or fried (boiled) until cooked today), mixed with spices and salt. If desired, add chopped dill. Mix everything.

Roll out the dough to 2 mm in thickness, cut into 5 by 5 squares. Put in the cooled filling and form the products. Place on parchment greased with oil. We pierce each puff pastry pie with chicken and potatoes with a fork two or three times in several places. Coat with beaten yolk, sprinkle with, for example, flax seeds.

We bake pies with potatoes in hot oven(two hundred degrees) 15-20 minutes. The ruddy top and bottom will convince you of readiness. Serve slightly cooled with a sauce based on sour cream and garlic, for example.

Let's take:

  • packaging of puff pastry;
  • 300-350 grams of ready-made mashed potatoes;
  • 150 grams of any mushrooms (champignons, oyster mushrooms or others);
  • half a head of onion;
  • vegetable oil for frying mushrooms;
  • 250-300 grams of any hard cheese.

First you need to peel and boil the potatoes, mash them into a puree. It’s tastier, of course, with butter and milk, but you can do it without the “excesses.” 🙂

Take out the puff pastry and leave it to defrost.

For a long time I had a pack of production-cut dough layers in the freezer that I didn’t understand how to use. This format isn’t quite suitable for or, but I wasn’t in the mood for it. 😀 And now it’s the turn of this dough - it was perfect for a layered potato pie: it didn’t need to be cut, and five sheets were the ideal amount for a layer pie (well, in my opinion, although you can make four, of course 😉). The cut sheets dictated the finished shape of my pie - a rectangle. You may well have a square or a wider rectangle.

While the dough is resting, fry in vegetable oil mushrooms with finely chopped onions. Combine with mashed potatoes and mix.

The main thing here is to drive away the household and yourself - the puree with mushrooms is too tasty! 🙂

When the filling has cooled and the dough can be rolled out, turn on the oven to preheat to 200°C.

Remember:

puff pastry can only be rolled in one direction, and it is advisable not to overdo the rolling so that the layers rise during baking

Place the rolled out plates on a baking sheet and bake for 3-5 minutes until they rise but do not brown.

Let the cakes cool slightly and grease them potato and mushroom filling. Adjust the thickness of the potato layer according to your taste - my son and I like it when there is a lot of filling. That's why I didn't make too thin layers.

Next, sprinkle with grated coarse grater cheese and stack the cakes on top of each other. You can assemble the pie right away - laying out the dough and filling alternately. Lightly press the cake with the last layer to make it denser.

We no longer decorate the top layer with potato filling, just sprinkle generously with grated cheese.

Place the formed layered potato pie in the oven for another 5-10 minutes. Until the cheese melts and slightly browns the shortcakes.

Let the pie cool a little and you can serve it by cutting it into portions.

A fragrant, tasty and nutritious layered potato pie can not only please on weekdays, but also impress guests at a festive feast. 😉

Bon appetit!

And to all housewives - happy March 8th!
Happiness to you, beauty
and harmony
inside and outside. 😉

I don’t remember my grandmother, but my mother taught me how to cook borscht and fry potatoes – and I’m grateful for that. So when Grandma Emma explains how to make potato pie in a “cooking video,” I hang on every word. But then she picks up scissors: a few cuts - and the result is not a cake, but a fantasy! Now I can do this too.

I tried it yesterday layer cake Emma's grandmothers. It's just a bomb! The children walk in circles around the kitchen, but not a piece is left. I'll have to cook again or they'll eat me. Thank you so much for the great recipe!

Hello, Grandma Emma! I watch your video recipes with interest, and the puff pastry pie with potatoes has taken pride of place in my cookbook! I've made potato pie several times. The family is happy, they will sweep it away in a couple of minutes. Thanks for the recipe!

This pie with puff pastry has become our family dish. My husband once said to me while leaving for work: “You even manage to ruin scrambled eggs.” Swallowing back tears, I found a video recipe on how to make potato pie. All day long I nursed puff pastry, whittled potatoes and onions. If I don’t have talent, I’ll do everything according to the recipe: there’s nothing complicated there. I didn’t believe in a good result. But what happened was the first time I wanted to eat it myself. In general, in the evening my husband said that I was the woman of his dreams.

I bake in a round pan, and make the dough for the potato pie according to my own recipe. I dissolve a pack of margarine in a saucepan over low heat, pour in two glasses of water, baking soda on the tip of a knife, and salt. Just enough flour to make the dough soft and airy. Instead of potatoes, I add other ingredients - onions, sweet pepper, pickles, cheese, fish, chicken. It turns out very satisfying. Try other fillings when thinking about how to make a layer cake.

I’ll be honest, I’m still that kind of housewife: the desire will awaken, and there will be flour in the store, which is already closed. It seems like everyone is at home, but somehow reluctant. Therefore, when determination and ingredients finally meet in the kitchen, a detailed recipe should be at hand. God forbid, it will say: salt to taste. I immediately come to a stupor: how much is this? Under-salting and over-salting is guaranteed. And here! Puff pastry pie with potatoes. “Well, everything is so clear and simple, as if they were taking you affectionately by the hand and kneading this capricious dough together.” In three hours (maybe a little more, but it seemed very fast to me) I had this ready culinary masterpiece: pie with potatoes. My family began to look at me with respect.

Good afternoon, Video Cooking! I recently became a housewife and became interested in cooking. different dishes. I succeeded in your potato pie because it was very simple, my husband was delighted! I took the risk of adding a spoonful of sour cream and some spices to the filling - pepper, nutmeg and dried herbs. The pie turned out juicy and aromatic, and the dough was simply above all praise. Thanks for the good lesson!

It is practical to always have puff pastry for potato pie in the refrigerator. I returned tired from work, suddenly hungry friends showed up, or my aunt came from Kyiv - a couple of potatoes, onions, and in half an hour a hearty and beautiful meal was ready.

Recently on the site. I tried making puff pastry according to your recipe. It is simple and can be prepared for future use. In the evening after work, you don’t want to jump around the kitchen, but hungry mouths won’t let you relax. Pie with puff pastry and potatoes was just a godsend! Half an hour and everyone is happy, and I can watch my TV shows. Low bow to you for your help!

While looking for an idea of what would be more interesting to make from a piece of puff pastry in the refrigerator, I came across a recipe for potato pie. Why not? However, it was not possible to bake it that day. There you need to sprinkle the potatoes and onions not only with salt and pepper, but also with some kind of cumin. To my shame, I knew nothing about her. I didn’t find this Indian spice right away. But, people! What aromas this layer cake emits with it!

For a long time I was looking for a recipe for potato pie, with a minimum of ingredients and cooking time. Thank you very much for the simple recipe!

The pies and cheesecakes that I occasionally gave to my family were taken to the corners and eaten with lightning speed. Therefore, she considered herself a good housewife. I recently tried a potato pie made from puff pastry. You know, this is a different level of family life: the native onion and potato aroma with a subtle oriental shade brings everyone to one table with the ruddy handsome man. But it requires much less hassle than my cheesecake pies. So for now they are resting.
