Next, stuff the prunes with walnuts. It's very easy to do. We cut the side of the prune and insert a small piece of nut.

On the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays, we are increasingly asking ourselves a completely non-rhetorical question from the eternal series “what to cook?” And immediately another question arises, how to do this quickly and without unnecessary hassle. I suggest you try to prepare an excellent appetizer for the holiday table, namely: delicious, juicy bacon rolls stuffed with sweet and sour prunes, baked in a creamy sauce with orange. It sounds like a restaurant dish, but believe me, it is very easy to prepare, and the effect will pleasantly surprise both you and your guests.

Let's take a closer look at this snack. We will do this with a wonderful video recipe from the culinary channel “Family Kitchen” - thank you very much guys for such a wonderful festive and at the same time such a simple recipe. Let's see how it's done)

Ingredients for Bacon and Prune Rolls:
  • Prunes - 16 pieces;
  • Slices (strips) of bacon - 8 pieces;
  • Hard cheese - 30 grams;
  • Orange - 1 piece;
  • Natural cream - 50 milliliters.

Believe me, they are like that delicious rolls everyone will like it - a very harmonious combination of products will give this dish a special, very pleasant taste and aroma.

Well, let's start preparing these most delicious and juicy mini bacon rolls. First we need to cut hard cheese small pieces. They will be the filling for the prunes. You need to choose prunes for this dish that are large, not overdried and, of course, pitted. We take a prune (you can soak it a little) and put our small cube of cheese inside the fruit. Having made two pieces like this, wrap them in bacon and place them on a suitable baking sheet lined with foil.

Let's move on to cooking cream sauce for baking rolls. To do this, we need to cut a large orange into two equal parts. From one half of the citrus you need to squeeze the juice into a bowl, pour the cream into it and mix well. Pour the resulting sauce evenly over the rolls, and cut the other half of the orange into half rings and place them on the rolls. That's basically it - now we put the baking sheet in an oven preheated to +200 C and bake them until we get the characteristic golden crust. The bacon is thin and will cook fairly quickly. So all I can do is wish you more festive reasons to cook delicious dishes, good mood and bon appetit.

At first glance, it seems that the dish contains completely incompatible products: bacon, hard cheese and prunes. However, their incompatibility is only apparent. Meat goes well with prunes (there are many classic recipes preparations meat dishes with prunes), and cheese sounds great with prunes. In general, let's try to combine these products together.

As you can see, we only need three ingredients and at most 15 minutes of time.

It would be nice to use already chopped and vacuum-packed bacon for this appetizer. But if it’s not in the store (like mine, for example), a piece will do just fine fragrant bacon. Choose your bacon according to your taste, but be sure to pay attention to its appearance, remember: You will have to roll the bacon, which means it will need to be cut in a special way. In addition, make sure that the bacon does not “split”, that is, does not fall apart into layers when cutting and during the wrapping process.

As for cheese, its type is not at all important here. Why am I a lover of cheese (delicious, special, rare), but here I will say with confidence: the simplest and most inexpensive “Russian” cheese is fine perfect! If it’s a little salty or spicy, great! But sweetish varieties of cheese, it seems to me, are less appropriate here, but it’s up to you to decide, go by your taste. The main thing is that the cheese should melt easily and quickly.

And finally, let's talk about prunes. Beautiful, large prunes look very advantageous. And it's easy to stuff. But! Do not forget that these same prunes will then have to be wrapped in bacon. Therefore, it is much easier to choose medium-sized prunes.

The products are ready. It's time to start cooking.

First of all, you need to thoroughly wash the prunes and soak them in hot water. Under no circumstances should you use unwashed prunes. Even if it looks nice and glossy. And we steam it so that the berries become soft and tasty. Look how cloudy the water is, even though the prunes have been washed beforehand.

While the prunes are softening, you need to grate the cheese. I use a fine grater for this, because such fine cheese is easier to use as minced meat for prunes.

Now you need to drain the water from the prunes, dry the berries a little and stuff them with cheese. Don't worry if it doesn't turn out very neatly, it doesn't matter at all. As soon as we wrap the rolls, it becomes absolutely impossible to see what shape the prunes were and how delicately they were stuffed.

All we have to do is wrap the cheese-stuffed prunes in bacon.

To do this you need to cut the bacon into slices. Here it is important to find the golden mean of slice thickness. If you make it very thin, the bacon will flake and show through. If you cut the pieces thicker, the bacon will begin to break when rolling, and it may “not want” to roll at all.

Place the prepared prunes on a piece of bacon and roll everything into a roll. To prevent the roll from falling apart, we fasten it with skewers or toothpicks. Just in case, I secured it on both sides so that the rolls would not unravel when baking.

Now place the almost finished rolls (I think it would be delicious!) on a plate or glass dish. And... put it in the microwave.

In fact, it's incredibly convenient that this snack uses a microwave. After all, the appetizer is served at the beginning of the festive feast, and at this very time (quite possibly!) the main signature dish is baked in the oven. But we don’t worry about the oven being busy, we just put our rolls in the microwave.

We set the maximum power (about 800) and 3-4 minutes. The baking time depends on how many rolls you have. In general, a minimum of time is needed; the main thing for us is that the cheese melts. And then - that's it! Can be taken out ready-made snack and serve it to the table.

This appetizer is ideal for feasts. And I can prove it.

Firstly, it prepares very quickly.

Secondly, from a minimum of ingredients.

Thirdly, a very original taste and aroma.

And, fourthly, such rolls can be prepared in advance, put the preparations in a food container and put in the refrigerator. And then, when the guests are already at the table in anticipation of the celebration, quickly take the rolls out of the refrigerator, put them in the microwave and - voila!

And the delivery can be organized in different ways. You can add such rolls to some other type of snack, preparing a general presentation. You can leave the skewers for beauty and convenience (especially if you are planning a buffet table), or you can take out the skewers - the rolls will not unwind! - and serve, beautifully laying out the appetizer on a large platter. The choice is yours!

Be sure to try it - you will be surprised by the richness of the taste and aroma of this unusual snack.

I first tried these delicious savory bacon rolls many years ago at my own wedding, and it happened completely by accident. When choosing a hot appetizer from the menu of the restaurant where the wedding celebration took place, my choice initially naturally fell on my passionately beloved one. However, for technical reasons they could not prepare the julienne and had to choose an alternative option - hot bacon rolls with prunes and walnuts. This simple but incredibly tasty appetizer made such a strong impression on my relatives and guests that since then this dish has become firmly entrenched in all our family feasts. I didn’t even have to take the recipe from the restaurant chef - the composition of the rolls and the method of preparing them were quite visible to the naked eye :)

I highly recommend everyone to try this easy-to-prepare appetizer, and perhaps it will become your lifesaver for all occasions. After all, you can roll up a couple of dozen rolls in 10 minutes and after 15 – 20 minutes of baking in the oven, they can already be served. This is incredibly convenient when you need to prepare a festive table with many dishes. big company, as it saves you time and effort.

And this snack is good not only on holidays. If you keep a pack of bacon, prunes and nuts in your household, then on any day you can arrange small gatherings in the company of your spouse or friends with a glass of wine and intimate conversations, while enjoying the piquant taste of smoked bacon combined with delicate sweet prunes and aromatic crunchy nuts. Bacon rolls with prunes and walnuts are a real find for a quick and tasty snack with or without an occasion!

Useful information How to cook bacon rolls - a recipe for a hot appetizer of bacon with prunes and walnuts with step-by-step photos

INGREDIENTS:

  • 12 strips bacon or brisket (200g)
  • 12 pieces pitted prunes
  • 12 walnut halves
  • 12 wooden toothpicks

PREPARATION METHOD:

1. To prepare the rolls, we need only 3 ingredients - large juicy prunes, selected halves of walnuts and sliced bacon or brisket.

Advice! Be sure to take ready-made cuts, and not a whole piece of meat, since it is almost impossible to cut bacon so thin yourself, unless with the help of special equipment. For this appetizer, you can use either raw smoked or cooked smoked bacon. Raw smoked bacon produces rolls that are more piquant, while boiled and smoked bacon produces a more tender and delicate taste.

2. Place half a walnut on the prunes and press lightly. Then place this couple on the edge of the strip of bacon, roll it up and secure it with a toothpick.

The original recipe suggested that the nut should be inserted inside the prunes, however, this is quite labor-intensive work that does not affect the taste in any way. The main thing in this matter is to pierce the nut with a toothpick when forming the rolls so that it does not accidentally fall out of the snack.

3. Place bacon rolls with prunes and walnuts in a baking dish in one layer. There is no need to grease the pan with anything, as a sufficient amount of fat will release from the bacon when heated.

4. Bake the rolls in an oven preheated to 180°C for 15 - 20 minutes until deeply browned.

This savory appetizer should be served hot immediately after preparation. If not all the rolls are eaten, they can be stored in the refrigerator for several days, reheating them in the microwave for 30-40 seconds before eating. Appetizing golden brown juicy bacon rolls with prunes and walnuts are ready!

The first thing to do is prepare the nut butter for the filling. To do this, put nuts, garlic and herbs in a blender. Greens should be washed and well dried.

Wash the prunes and dry them well. Then it must be filled with the resulting nut-garlic paste.

Wrap the stuffed prunes and bacon. One thing to note is that you need to use thin bacon cavities for this dish as they will curl well and cook quickly. To prevent our rolls from unrolling, they must be secured with skewers or toothpicks. Place the bacon-prune rolls in a well-heated frying pan and fry on all sides, but without adding oil.

Advice from the chef

  • If you do not tolerate fried foods well, this recipe you can change it a little. So, instead of frying prunes in bacon, you can simply bake them. Cover a baking sheet with foil and place our prunes on it. Bake in a well-heated frying pan. Cooking time is five minutes.
  • To make the rolls juicy and tasty, it is best to use large prunes, which can be filled with a lot of filling. The prunes should not be dry and well dried, this will add a special piquancy to the dish.
  • In addition to dill and tarragon, you can use other herbs and spices of your choice when preparing the filling. Walnuts You can also replace with any others: peanut, pine, cashew.
